What I’m trying to say is, the subject discussed here is presented in the interest of exploring the Windows kernel for self-education. I found some bugs and wrote some ‘gangster’ kernel exploits, but that’s it.
So, my overall knowledge of the Windows kernel is limited. I’m not a programmer, and I don’t have access to source code (besides the one that everyone has).
I’ve never worked at Microsoft or any other big hardware/AV company. My experience with the Windows Kernel comes from writing exploits for memory corruption bugs. This post tells the story of some of these ring0 experiments. To play a little bit with these kernel callbacks, I “wrote” (yes, in commas) a pseudo- EDR proof-of-concept (that uses these Ps callbacks). There are several places in Windows 11 where you can switch the sliders so that you’re not getting what are essentially in-OS popups on your PC. So how do you get rid of this particular brand of bloat? Windows 11 It’s annoying and takes away the feeling that this is your operating system. More than any Windows version before it, Windows 10 and Windows 11 are intertwined with various companies and developers to promote certain products to you (or Microsoft’s own products that you probably don’t need). The app will offer to create a system restore point first, which you should accept, and if you’re unsure about what to disable then just use the ‘Recommended’ column over on the right-hand side of ShutUp. Click the name of the feature to see a description of what it does and how it works, then you just click the slider to disable it. Once ShutUp10 is installed, you can choose to disable a huge amount of privacy-compromising features in Windows that you may not have known about.
